If you are a fan of Sakamoto Ryuichi, you will be sad to know that the Japanese pop pioneer has passed away. He was an Oscar-winning composer who dominated our hearts for a long time. He passed away at the age of 71 and will always be remembered as a renewed and one of the most praised musicians of all time.
The exact cause of his death is not known to us, but it is said that Ryuichi Sakamoto was undergoing treatment for cancer. We all know cancer is a severe illness and there are no or a few chances of a person surviving.

Throughout his career, Ryuichi Sakamoto pursued a wide range of styles. He was a member of YMO (Yellow Magic Orchestra) and his bandmates have been Yukihiro Takahashi and Haruomi Hosono. He long influenced some electronic music genres and we will definitely miss this diamond.

A Little About His Life
Ryuichi Sakamoto started his professional life when he was studying at the university. In 1978, he got his first main success because he co-founded YMO and it was one of the best decisions of his life.
Some of the albums he released are Thousand Knives and B-2 Unit. His track “Riot in Lagos” is considered a major development of hip-hop and electro music. In addition, he composed great music for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Let’s not forget to admire his composition “Energy Flow.”
As far as his personal life is concerned, he married three times. In 1972, he tied the knot but this didn’t last for more than two years. In 1982, he chose Akiko Yano as his life partner and collaborated with her on a number of music projects. He also spent a big part of his life with the wife of his manager with whom Ryuichi Sakamoto had two kids.
